Harry Kane admits Bayern Munich should have won by a bigger margin after spurning multiple chances in their narrow win over Wolfsburg.
Bayern overcame a stubborn Wolfsburg side in the Bundesliga on Saturday, but only scored from three of their 25 shots on goal. England captain Kane was guilty of missing some chances of his own and after the match, the 31-year-old said his side need to be more clinical – while also praising their overall performance.
He told reporters: “We should have scored more goals today, that would have made the game easier for us. But Wolfsburg always stayed in the game, they scored, even at an important time, and made it stressful for us in the last few minutes. But all in all we won the game. It was a good performance against a strong team that has picked up a lot of points this season.”
The result means Bayern stay four points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, although closest rivals Bayer Leverkusen won again to keep the title race alive. Kane and his team-mates will hope he is back to his goalscoring best soon.
Kane’s Bayern take a break from Bundesliga action on Wednesday when they travel to Feyenoord in their penultimate Champions League group phase fixture.
